St. Vinny

Ahh. Today is the day that brings joy to this month. I think almost every month has a holiday of some sort. Valentines day is among my favorite. It makes me smile.
THOUGHTS:
"Valentine's Day is an odd holiday. I'm not one to care for it too much. I think we end up putting to much value on the "togetherness" aspect of our lives. I think in some cases it could even make relationships worse as couples stress over what to get each other, trying to get the "perfect" thing for their partner.

I'm of the opinion that if you want to express your love to another, why wait for a particular day to do so? To me, sending me roses on a regular day for no particular reason would be much more well received than sending me roses on Valentine's Day. I think I end up questioning the motives of my partner giving me things -- does he feel obliged because it's Valentine's Day and society says that he should give something to me? If that's the case, then I would rather he not give me anything at all.

I don't want society to dictate to me when I should show affection to my partner and when he should show affection to me. My boy and I may do something nice for each other, like draw a bubble bath or cook, or give a massage or watch a movie together -- but we do these things on a normal basis anyways." -- Reishka

"Love is when you can't be apart from someone for too long...you're always thinking of them, and when you're with them you never want to say goodbye. Love is far from simple. It's quite complex. It's a mix of about everything. It's sadness, joy, passion, hatred, excitement, it's almost every feeling you can imagine and more. You know love when you find it, it's that person that when they smile it brightens up your day, you can't stop staring at them for fear of losing them, they're always on your mind, you daydream of being with them, even if they're less than 20 feet away...and you can't stand it when they're not with you, the worst feeling you could ever feel is when you know that person you love is not with you...you can't tell when love will happen, you just know when it does, that moment when you first lay eyes on that person, and you never want to look away...that is love. Nothing less. "
